Belly Buttons and Boxers

Yes, I know...it has almost been a month since I last wrote...so here it goes, hope I don't bore you to death.

We've been busy busy. My sister and kiddos came to visit from GA for a week at the end of May. And all they did was play play and play...made TONS of wonderful memories and can't wait to get together again. My much older sister and I enjoyed just sitting on the porch with our coffee and watching the happenings, we did get a day in Lancaster at the outlets and stopped at an Amish Store. My sis is insisting on buying me one of their quilts...what a lovely sis I have.

There were lots of trips into the woods, we heard mumblings of a Camp Raven and Camp Rainbow, a secret camp and a secret, secret, secret camp. There were those following others to camps to spy on each other and there was A LOT of dirty muddy clothes and showers every night.

Over Memorial Day weekend we had Bill's cousin and wife from TN here until Monday. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend just enjoying each others company, fishing and hiking. Jerry had the kiddos go on a treasure hunt and taught them how to make boxes out of cards. Monday afternoon our company left and we went to a little gathering southwest of DC to meet some new friends in the area. The kiddos played and played and once again us parents enjoyed just being together outside with the squeals of the kiddos around us. During the weekend we had a little boy who was totally wore out, and as you can tell from the picture he decided to take a nap right in the midst of everything.

Can't believe that this little boy isn't soo little anymore, he just turned 5. While my sister was here we celebrated and went out for pizza and then he asked for a Cola Cake.

We then had some very special ladies here for a couple of nights that week and enjoyed having them here and not have to worry about school or daily tasks. As you can read, the kiddos and I are really REALLY enjoying our summer vacation - we have totally forgotten the defination of the word "schedule".

Then on Saturday we had some super special people come and visit us for 3 nights. We enjoyed having Larisa here and hopefully we helped her heal. Monica was wonderful and painted our trim in our living room and did some touch up, so that room is almost done, we are debating if we should have the wood floors refinished in this room or not.

I will leave you with this chuckle one of the boys gave me last night. The warm weather makes the boys want to sleep in just boxers and as our 5 year old put it last night, "Mom, we are sleeping with our boxers and belly buttons" (which means no shirts). I just love how kiddos say things.

  1. Saw on FB that you had visitors from KS! How special for them to feel 'home' out east and for you to open your doors... sure is a great 'family' we are a part of.
