It all depends on how one looks at life.

We were suppose to have our Geo-thermal unit installed on Monday and everything was in place, until we got a call saying that the company installing our trench and pipes had an accident. I guess that they shoot the pipes with some sort of alcohol before they put water in them, well this was done at another job they were doing on Saturday and something went MAJOR MAJOR WRONG and it exploded. The "right hand man" and another man were severely burnt and the house was destroyed. We have been rescheduled for the end of this week.

Many of you may not know that the state of Maryland is in a drought, so we have been anxious for rain. (maybe too anxious) So last night as we heard the rain come down and thought well we need it. And then about 1 a.m. Bill can't sleep worrying about the rain and possibly getting into the house...so after struggling with sleep he finally gets up at 2:00 and goes to check and finds our basement with about 2" of water in it. Don't know if you remember the picture of the new well pipe and the trench, well we have to keep that trench open for the electric company to bury their wire (which will be done on Friday). Well this trench is at the bottom of our driveway and right next to the house, with pouring down rain (1"+ and hour)the water didn't soak in and ran right down the driveway, right into the trench, right into our basement. So we were sweeping out the water of the basement and getting our furniture up on blocks early this morning. Our wardrobe boxes were wet on the bottom, which means some clothes got wet. Our awesome builder insisted on having the kids and I come to his place so I could wash the clothes and the kiddos watch cartoons (our builder knows we don't have a tv and thought that would be something different for the kids to do)..he was right.
What we have learned today, well we have four healthy kids and each other, we still have our house and our stuff in the basement. And when thoughts of frustration knock at our mind, we think of that family whose home was destroyed and the two families whose loved ones are fighting for their life. The only thing Bill and I lost was a couple of hours of sleep and possibly some material things...again, it all depends on how we look at life.
