Future Chicken Farmers

Bill putting on the finishing touches to the coop. We had two retired neighbor men build the coop.

The nesting boxes, in the picture they are storing Bill's tools.

A picture from the inside showing the new window, floor and perches.

When our oldest son found out that we were moving to the country he wanted some chickens, well we are one step closer to getting chickens. The past month we have been working on the "chick house." Bill is threatening to move his lazy boy out there, since it has a nice window and new flooring and it is really quiet...there are no chicks in there yet. (psst...even if there were chicks in there, it might be still quieter than in the house.)
Someone from Bill's work ordered chickens, however doesn't want all 25 of them, so we should get them within a couple of weeks and they will be about 2 months old by then. We hope that by April we will have eggs available, and believe me we NEED eggs. We are now going through about a dozen eggs for breakfast on the mornings we have eggs, so these chicks will earn their keep.
