They have arrived...all 12 of them. The kids and Bill went yesterday afternoon to pick them about an hour away, according to Bill he was wishing it was a little closer. Traveling with 12 chickens in a dog cage, up and down major hills, with four kids giggling and chickens well, yeah, doing their thing...it got a tad smelly and loud. By the sounds of it, I made the right choice to decline on that little outing.
If all goes well we are suppose to be having eggs by April. We aren't too worried about any animals getting into the coop at night, it seems locked up good and tight, however we are a bit concerned about during the day with hawks. Our big orange cat took an interest to them right away, however I hope to be able to teach with a spray bottle the need to leave the chickens alone.
That's so cool! I'd love to have chickens! Good luck keeping them safe, that sounds like a challenge. Speaking of challenges, good for Bill taking 4 kids to get the chickens!
